Invented World

Invented World brings together photographs made across different geographic contexts over several years. The series proceeds from the premise that photography does not record the world as it is, but as it is seen – shaped by perception, position and experience. What appears documentary is already interpretative. Public space and everyday gesture emerge as constructions formed by systems of labour, leisure and representation. The work assumes that every act of looking produces a version of the world. The “Invented World” is not fiction, but reality refracted through gaze.
